The Best Las Vegas Shows

There are so many great shows in town these days that picking the very best Las Vegas shows is quite a difficult task. Fortunately what isn’t that hard is selecting the very best of the best, the one show you really have to see if you see nothing else in Vegas.

The best show (shows actually) by far is a Cirque du Soleil show. There are currently seven different Cirque shows in Vegas, including the Criss Angel Believe show at the Luxor. LE RÊVE, created by the former artistic director of Circque du Soleil, plays at the Wynn and is an unofficial 8th cirque-style show.

So of all eight of these shows, which is the best? That is really far more dependent on your personal taste and situation than on anything else. If you have kids, aim for Kà at the MGM Grand or Mystère at Treasure Island.

If you want to go all out and see the greatest possible spectacle, go for O at the Bellagio, which incorporates huge water tanks into the show. And if you are in the mood for some more adult entertainment (and they don’t call it Sin City for nothing), go see Zumanity at New York, New York.

The Best Las Vegas Magic Show

This really is an easy call to make. The best magic show in Las Vegas or anywhere else, for that matter, is Penn & Teller. These two have been at it for 30 years now, 10 of them at the Rio Hotel.

But what makes them so great is their absolute, relentless pursuit of perfection. Tell might not talk much, but he is known to rehearse and develop a single illusion for a year or more, which makes for some simply breathtaking ‘tricks”.

So if you love magic, and you want to see two of the greatest living illusionists, be sure to catch this show. These two tell it like it is, don’t disguise their illusions with cheesy effects, and are sure to make you wonder “how on Earth did they do that!”

Best Las Vegas Musical Show

This is another tough call, since there are quite a few great musicals and music-oriented shows in town these days. Still, the prize would have to go to the Lion King at Mandalay Bay.

This show is a sure-fire crowd pleaser and another great choice for kids (though make no mistake, adults love this show too). With 54 cast members, 21 musicians, and simply amazing costumes, this show fits the textbook definition of a spectacle.
