Located about 10 miles south of the rest of the casinos in town, the new M Resort is on Las Vegas Boulevard, but, technically speaking, it is not on the Strip, which now formally ends at Russell Road, just past Mandalay Bay.
The M Resort is a trendy boutique hotel through and through, with really gorgeous modern design throughout the resort, from the guest rooms to the lobby, restaurants, pool, and other public areas.
In a sense, this is the ultimate locals casino, conceived by a Vegas native. But it is also a hotel of exceptional quality, being given a Forbes four star award in both the year it opened, 2009, and in 2010 as well. It has only 390 rooms, giving it a very intimate feel, yet because of its popularity with locals, it has dining and entertainment facilities that exceed those you would expect of a hotel at this size.
The casino, for example, is quite large for a hotel of under 400 rooms, with 92,000 square feet (8,500 square meters) of floor space. It has a wonderful modern decor that is one of the nicest of any casino in town.
In addition, there are seven restaurants and six bars on site, including some truly excellent dining options on par with those at any of the resorts on the Strip.
The hotel’s excellent buffet, Studio B, includes beer and wine in its standard charge. Anthony’s Prime Steak & Seafood is another great venue for large meals.
Then there’s the Italian cuisine offered at Marinelli’s, and you can get both tapas and sushi at Veloce Cibo, located top the hotel on the sixteenth floor. And Hash House A Go-Go serves an updated version of diner fare.
For bars, you have more great choices, including the M Bar and the lobby bar, which overlooks the pool area, and the wonderful wine tasting bar, the Hostile Grape.
The hotel rooms are all done up in a very elegant yet comfortable modern decor and incorporate state of the art energy saving technologies like lights that go on when you insert your key card and go off on a delay after you remove it. There are also electronic “do not disturb” signs, a nice touch.
The hotel’s pool area is also quite beautiful. There is one main pool and a VIP pool named “Daydream”, which is free to hotel guests (local men must pay a cover charge).
All in all, this is a great hotel if you want to stay away from the excitement and crowds of the Strip yet still want to experience all of the luxury, beauty, and excellent service offered by a top rated hotel.
