Located about 20 minutes west of the Las Vegas Strip off the 215 freeway, the resort is also just minutes east of the beautiful Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, knowing for its spectacular rock formations, hiking, rock climbing, and other outdoor activities. And it is this proximity to nature that shapes the look and feel of the Red Rock.

From many of the rooms, you have views of the amazing mountain areas, and the property itself stands almost alone against the mountains, giving you the feeling of being amidst them, a sharp contrast to your experience on the Strip.

The Red Rock is known as a “locals casino,” but it also has a 800-plus room hotel that has been award the AAA four diamond rating, so the facilities and service are excellent and on par with those found at other similar luxury hotels on Las Vegas Boulevard.

There is plenty to do at the Red Rock, starting with the casino, with its elegant Swarovski crystal chandeliers and wide variety of gaming options, including bingo, always a favorite at locals casinos.

Then there is a huge entertainment complex, including a large blowing alley and a 16 screen Regal Cinemas movie theater complex. The entertainment draws locals from the surrounding upscale master-planned community of Summerlin, adding to the diversity of the people at the resort.

The pool area at Red Rock is quite stylish and beautiful, and it’s a great place to relax on a hot summer day. There is a large, round central pool known as the Sandbar Pool, and there are also eight smaller pools along with private cabanas, which are available for rental.

There are plenty of dining options at the Red Rock too, perhaps more than you would expect at a boutique hotel of its size, due to its popularity in the local community. There is a great buffet called the Feast, and there is a Mexican eatery, Cabo Cantina, an Italian restaurant, Terra Rossa, and a Japanese fusion place called Hachi.

And if you want to truly take advantage of the resort’s stellar natural location, you can go on any of a wide number of outings available through the Adventure Spa, which plans trips from hikes to rafting for hotel guests.

This is a wonderful place to stay for anyone who loves nature, especially if you have been to Vegas before and want something different. It’s high end, but far more relaxed than the Strip.
