Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino

The Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino is located right in the middle of the Las Vegas Strip, directly across from Caesars Palace and in between Harrah’s and the Flamingo.

But if you don’t know where to look for it, it’s possible you might pass this 2,600 room resort altogether, because it is tucked away behind a club and with only a small, barrow, and inconspicuous pathway leading to its casino and hotel rooms from the Strip.

That lack of fast, easy access to the Strip is the biggest drawback to this resort, and it appears that owner Caesars Palace might be on the verge of rectifying it with its new Linq project, which will create a walkway between Harrah’s, the Imperial Palace, and teh Flamingo, along with building an outdoor mall with stores and a massive 550 foot tall Ferris Wheel.

But in the mean time, what’s good about the Imperial Palace is its laid back and wonderfully fun casino, where celebrity impersonators perform and even deal cards.

It’s a nice, laid back, old school kind of place that you can feel at ease in even if you are not a high roller or anything close to it. It’s a personal favorite on the Strip.

The rooms and pool area at the hotel are both acceptable, though you might want to upgrade to a better class of room if they offer, because the entry level rooms are quite plain.

The down side to the hotel is that it is like a maze to navigate, and signs directing the way to the ground level are few, far between, and not entirely clear. You can end up on a floor above the ground level, looking down, with no idea how to get there. It is a very unusual layout.

It’s also quite a walk down the hallway, down an elevator, along yet another seemingly endless hall, though the casino, and then finally crossing traffic to find the one narrow path to the Strip. If anyone has trouble walking, this might make your stay here quite a chore.

But the place has a simply great location that, for the money, simply can’t be beat. Bottom line is, if you can get the rooms for a steal, then you might want to go for it. But if not, consider paying a bit more for the Flamingo or Harrah’s. Or opt for a place off the Strip like the Wyndham Grand.
