Treasure Island Hotel and Casino – TI
What is more fun than pirates? Well, pirates, gambling, and a great Cirque du Soleil show, of course. And the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino has them all and then some.
Recently co-branded TI, Treasure Island is located just west of the Mirage on Las Vegas Boulevard, and it is almost the same size, with 2885 rooms and a 95,000 square foot casino. Yet aside from their similar size and age (it opened for years after Mirage, in 1993), the two sister resorts have little else in common.
While the Mirage is the sophisticated older sister, Treasure Island is the fun, slightly naughty younger sister. The hotel has great food in its buffet, a fun, relaxed casino, and actual pirates too. Well, at least a pirate show, complete with pirate boats an a Caribbean waterfront too.
The hotel has a rather nice, large pool that is decorated with the type of lush tropical vegetation that you also find at the Mirage pool. And it has a full service spa.
Entertainment and Nightlife
There is plenty to do at Treasure Island for both adults and for the kids too.
Of course, there is the free pirate show, “The Sirens of TI,” which takes place every night at regular intervals (the times are posted outside, and you can line up in advance to get the best viewing spots along the boardwalk.
It’s a pretty fun show with live actors and stunt people performing some pretty impressive stunts as the two life-sized pirate ships do “battle”, one of them even sailing in from the far corner of the hotel.
Other fun things to do include the great Cirque du Soleil show “Mystere”, which was the first Cirque show to arrive in Vegas and is every bit as jaw-dropping and fun as it was the day it opened (it is also the least expensive Cirque show in Vegas, for bargain seekers looking for a great deal).
There is one club at the hotel, Gilley’s Saloon, Dance Hall, and BBQ. It’s a country themed place that is a bit off theme but still popular.
If you are looking for a bit more exciting and/or sophisticated clubbing, just hop the free tram for Mirage next door, which has a whole slew of great night spots, including the new Beatles-inspired Revolution Lounge, which was developed by Cirque du Soleil. This is a fun, open club that’s perfect for anyone looking for a good time in a great environment.
