Blue Man Group at the Venetian

by admin on August 25, 2011

First originated way back in 1987, the Blue Man Group stood out from other shows at the time, and it still stands out today amongst the premiere shows on the Las Vegas Strip.  There are no lavish costumes and set pieces here.

It’s just the three gues dressed in black with the signature blue face paint on, making you laugh, causing you to you think, and leaving you thoroughly entertained. Now, as you can see from the video of one of their numbers at the Venetian below, they do have quite a large set.

Everything is techno, avant-guard, and still cutting edge decades after the show was conceived by three recent college grads in New York City as a form of street performance.

The show then moved on to off-Broadway before taking Vegas (and the rest of the world) by storm in the 2000′s.

In what might be the show’s signature piece, known as “Paint Drumming”, the three Blue Men play three drums with different colors of neon paint on them, the paint splashing in an amazing display as the drums are hit during the number.

This show is light hearted, fun, and visually and musically fascinating. It’s something the whole family will love, from the kids to the seniors – everybody will be drawn in by the bright colors, the compelling music, and the humor.

After all, who can resist a show where they welcome you with some crepe paper and told to go to town decorating yourself and your seat? This show is the polar opposite of stuffy, high-brow theater. It’s all about having a great time.

You can find out more about the show here at the Blue Man Group website. The show remains popular, so advance tickets are advised. The theater at the Venetian is new and custom built for the show.
