KÀ – Cirque du Soleil

If you have ever seen a Cirque du Soleil show, then you have probably wondered how that show could ever be topped. Each show is so brilliant, the performer so incredible, the sets beyond compare.

But then a new show comes out, and you realize Cirque has managed somehow to one-up themselves again. This was certainly the case in2005 when Cirque premiered KÀ at the MGM Grand. The video trailer below will give you some idea of the incredible visuals and music in the show.

The LA Times has called it “The most lavish production in the history of Western Theater”, and that is no overstatement. This show is simply incredible. You will think to yourself that what you just have seen wasn’t even possible, either technically or humanly. Yet somehow Cirque pulls it off, night after night.

Unlike some other Cirque shows, KÀ tells a very straightforward story that is easy to follow. It’s the story of two Asian siblings – Imperial Twins – who are separated when they are young, and who must go through a right of passage, a kind of trial by fire.

KÀ is said to by the fire that can either destroy or illuminate. Through the course of the story, the twins must face a series of trials in order to reunite and retake their rightful place in the imperial palace.

The cast has over 80 members, and there are more than 300 in the crew. It took over $220,000 million to develop this show, and when you see it, you will understand just why it cost so much to create.

Tickets to this incredible production are not cheap, starting at over $150, but it sells out quite frequently, so it is best to get your tickets well in advance of your arrival.

If you can’t afford the ticket price, then you should consider checking out Mystère at Treasure Island. It is also amazing and elaborate, but currently about 1/3 the price.

KÀ is quite simply the show to see in Vegas, especially for families. It is a feast for the senses, and it will be one show you certainly will remember for many years to come.
