The very first show to open at the five star Wynn Resort in Las Vegas, Le Rêve (“The Dream”) is a stunningly beautiful show. Created by Franco Dragone, the former creative director for Cirque du Soleil, Le Reve is set on a stage that includes a pool that is almost 70 feet across and contains a million gallons of water.
The theater itself, a theater in the round, contains 1600 seats, none of which is more than 40 feet away from the stage, providing for amazing views from every seat in the house. The show and the performances, much like those in a Cirque show, are visually dazzling and seemingly defy the laws of physics. Take a look at some moments from the show in this video.
The show, true to its title and to the Picasso painting that gave it its name, is surreal and dream-like, loosely following the story of a woman’s dream after separating from her lover.
Much of the action revolves around a central platform in the middle of the pool that rises up out of the water, becoming a ding platform at times. The show involves divers, aerialists, acrobats, and all manner of dance.
Performers rise up from the water, lower down from a giant hole in the ceiling, and appear down the aisles right next to audience members. This is a show where the audience and the show are as one, and you feel like you are, in fact, right in the middle of the story.
Kids above the age of five are allowed in the show, though it might be a bit too hard to follow for the younger ones. Teens and adults will both love this show, with its really rapid pace, seemingly endless set changes, and incredible stunts both in the water and high in the air.
It’s one of the best shows in Vegas and well worth the price of admission, which is generally reasonable and around the average for a show of this caliber in Las Vegas.
