Las Vegas is famous for it’s weddings. Everyone from Elvis to Frank Sinatra to Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward has been married here. So what draws everybody to the wedding chapels in Las Vegas anyway? Part of the draw, at least originally, was the the ease of obtaining wedding licenses in the city.

But these days there is much, much more that draws people to get married in Las Vegas, from the dozens of picture-perfect chapels to the mega resorts with their immaculate grounds, perfect for receptions and wedding photos.
But perhaps the biggest draw of Las Vegas for would-be married couples is the sheer excitement of the place. What could be more fun than a Vegas wedding? A Vegas honeymoon, of course. And if you bring friends and family to Las Vegas for a wedding, the whole affair can become festive, like one big party.
Independent Las Vegas Wedding Chapels
There are two basic options when you get married in Vegas, the first being the traditional little wedding chapel, of which there are literally dozens. These chapels are mostly found in the downtown area, although some are closer to the Strip, and one can be found on the south end of the strip, across from Mandalay Bay.
These independent chapels range from quaint little buildings resembling small country churches to mere store fronts in strip malls. These independent chapels tend to be the least expensive route to take, with entire wedding packages starting at less then $200 in some cases, though much more elaborate packages are also available.
Las Vegas Hotel Weddings
The second type of wedding available in Vegas is the hotel wedding. Most of the major casinos have their own chapel areas, many of which are quite elaborate and beautiful.

The resorts also have full wedding staffs to help you plan every aspect of your wedding, and they have packages available at very reasonable prices that can include everything from chapel rental to flowers and cakes to programs and invitations.
The hotel chapels tend to offer a far more sophisticated environment than do most of the independent chapels, and therefore they make a great place to hold a destination wedding for your family and friends, as opposed to a quick elopement or other no-nonsense weddings where the objective is more to get hitched and move on to the honeymoon.
Hotel staffs tend to be very helpful and accommodating, and they will send you any material you need to help you make your choice as to the best venue and package for your wedding.
